Save On Video Games, Tech, Trading Cards, And More In Best Buy's Ultimate Upgrade Event

17 April 2026 at 07:38

Best Buy's Ultimate Upgrade Sale kicked off earlier this week, bringing big discounts to hundreds of items through Sunday, April 19. Included in the sale are tons of great gaming and PC hardware, but also a nice collection video games at slashed prices. You can also save on prebuilt gaming PCs, monitors, TVs, headsets, controllers, and even some fun collectibles and trading card game packs. Even some first party Nintendo games are on sale, which is a rare occurrence on their physical media. Whatever you're into, the sale is packed with all kinds of tech deals, so be sure to give the whole catalogue a once-over to see if anything else strikes your fancy.

Video Games

No Caption Provided

Plenty of video games are part of this sale. For Switch owners, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a few bucks off and a great duology of some of the best 3D platformers around. While you can purchase either title individually on the Nintendo eShop at half the price each, many physical collectors (myself included) much prefer having a box and home for their game, and they don't become obsolete like a digital download eventually would. For something with a bit more substance and longevity, Monster Hunter Wilds is a great new entry in Capcom's long-running RPG series, and with free content updates throughout its lifespan you'll get plenty of bang for your buck.

Prebuilt Gaming PCs

No Caption Provided

If you're like me and enjoy PC gaming but the thought of meticulously building your own rig part by part is a bit intimidating, the Ultimate Upgrade sale offers plenty of nice prebuilt battlestations to get you started. The HP Omen 35L prebuilt gaming PC is a powerful build that will be able to run games at pretty high visual quality, and taking $210 off the sticker price is not a bad deal, especially if you prefer to play your games this way.

Catch Up On Years Of Destiny 2 Content With Latest Humble Bundle

If you've been meaning to catch up on Destiny 2 on PC, Humble's latest Bundle is worth checking out. The Humble Destiny 2 Expansion Bundle 2026 a great way to snag PC versions of all the major Destiny 2 expansions from the last few years without spending hundreds of dollars. This collection spans multiple eras of Destiny 2 and includes some of the most interesting and critically acclaimed additions to the base game. Like most Humble Bundles, the pricing here is variable. There are four tiers, starting at three items for $4, and topping at $28 for the full 11-item collection (a $354 value). A portion of all sale is donated to the Bungie Foundation, a nonprofit charity organization that provides pediatric patients with games and entertainment.

As mentioned above, the base tier gets you three pieces of premium Destiny 2 DLC, including Destiny 2: Forsaken, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep. Beyond Light was the expansion that saw the introduction of the first Darkness subclass, Stasis, and put players on path toward a cosmos-shaking conflict with the Witness. However, if there was a tangible prologue to the current state of Destiny 2, it was Forsaken. This expansion sees you chasing down an outlaw on a quest for revenge and skirting perilously close to the Darkness. Shadowkeep takes players back to the moon, where the Hive have returned and are back to doing Hive shit--building cursed citadels, being spooky, trying to resurrect one of their many god-kings. The usual.

Mamdani Uses Mario Kart To Explain New Tax On The Super-Rich

17 April 2026 at 04:34

Zohran Mamdani, the newly minted mayor of New York City, has announced sweeping taxes on the ultra-rich to make what's often described as the most expensive city in the US a little more affordable. To describe the level of impact his tax plan will have, Mamdani took an unconventional approach: bringing up Mario Kart.

In a press briefing on April 16, Mamdani (D-NY) was joined by Elle Bisgaard-Church (D-NY) and other board members of the newly established Mayor's Fund to discuss what the fund will do, who could (philanthropist donors) and should (wealthy elites) contribute, and how this money pot will benefit every New Yorker in every borough. While breaking it down, Mamdani decided that Mario Kart would make a good metaphor to explain it all.

where are we going with this my brother pic.twitter.com/pVYV8mh0nV

β€” brynnπŸ•³οΈ (@brynnposting) April 16, 2026

"I like to think of it this way. Government is driving the race car, and philanthropy is there to give it that turbo boost to cross the finish line," Mamdani said. "Or if you are a Mario Kart fan, government is Yoshi, and philanthropy is the golden mushroom--that edge we need to beat Bowser on the Rainbow Road. To belabor this metaphor even further, Bowser is corporate greed in this scenario."

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Reportedly Drops Anchor This July

17 April 2026 at 03:41

It seems the rumors may be real after all: The Assassin's Creed 4 remake will reportedly launch on July 9. While details--like launch platforms--are unknown, we can revel in the fact that the best entry in Ubisoft's stab-and-dash franchise appears to be making a comeback, and it seems to be sooner than we all initially thought.

According to Insider Gaming, the AC IV: Black Flag remake was scheduled to be revealed on April 16, but Ubisoft reportedly postponed the announcement until sometime next week. However, content creators and games media already saw about 30 minutes of it and, as Insider Gaming noted, it's been "completely reworked" with a bunch of new content and "looks awesome."

The game is officially called Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. It's a silly title--one that was accidentally revealed on a PEGI ratings board in December 2025.

Diablo 4's Evil Mommy Lilith Sure Seems A Lot Less, Well, Evil Now

17 April 2026 at 02:56

A newly revealed cinematic for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred shows Lilith's return following her defeat in the base game, and while she looks the same, she also seems noticeably less evil than the first time around.

The cinematic comes from IGN as part of its IGN First Lord of Hatred cover story, revealing new details about Diablo 4's second expansion ahead of its release on April 28. While we knew from earlier interviews that players would be teaming back up with the mother of Sanctuary in some form, the cinematic shows what looks to be a dramatic reunion.

In the cinematic, the player-character (in this case a Paladin, one of the expansion's two new classes), is shown falling down a dark, seemingly bottomless pit. As they fall, Lilith's voice can be heard amidst flashes of Diablo 4's current new big bad, Mephisto.

Sony's MIA Live-Service Game Is Going In The Exact Direction You'd Expect

17 April 2026 at 02:33

New details have come to light regarding Sony's upcoming multiplayer live-service game, Fairgame$, including information about one of its game modes and its reported business model.

When Fairgame$ was announced in 2023, Sony called it a "competitive heist experience," and now Insider Gaming has reported details on one of its game modes, Cargo Heist. This will reportedly play out in three phases, including Break In, which has players looking for a vault code and collecting cash to upgrade their skillset. In the next phase, Drill, players will get inside the vault and fight to collect the cargo. The third phase is Extract, which has players carrying the cargo to an extraction site.

Fairgame$ could have other modes, but only Cargo Heist was detailed in the report. Some are saying this description gives off Marathon vibes, which itself is an extraction-based game.

Call Of Duty Movie - Everything We Know About The Activision/Paramount Film Coming In 2028

17 April 2026 at 02:20

A Call of Duty movie is now in the works at Paramount with big names attached to write and direct. It's been a long time coming, as Activision first announced plans for a Call of Duty movie--and an entire universe of Call of Duty films--more than a decade ago. But now the project is progressing, and at CinemaCon this year, Paramount announced a release date for the long-in-development project.

In this post, we're rounding up everything we know about the Call of Duty movie. We'll update this post in the future as more details are divulged.

What is the Call of Duty movie about?

This is one of the biggest questions people have about the Call of Duty movie, and we don't yet have an answer. In the original announcement, Paramount and Activision said they were "committed to honoring the brand's rich narrative and distinctive style," going on to promise an "authentic and exciting experience" that can appeal to longtime fans and newcomers. These are marketing buzzwords and don't tell us much of anything about what the Call of Duty movie will actually be.

One Key Part Of Fable Is Getting Outside Help

17 April 2026 at 01:49

The cinematics for Microsoft's upcoming Fable reboot from developer Playground may be worth paying extra attention to, as Blizzard, a studio well-known for its eye-catching cinematics, is lending a helping hand.

Xbox's chief content officer Matt Booty dropped the news during an appearance on the Official Xbox Podcast, describing how various Microsoft-owned studios work together to make their games better. He outlined how The Coalition, experts on the Unreal Engine after working on the Gears of Wars franchise for years, have helped studios like inXile. Rare, most recently known for Sea of Thieves, is helping out Double Fine on its upcoming multiplayer pottery brawler Kiln. But one name in particular stood out.

"There are other examples," Booty said. "We've got the Blizzard cinematics team helping out on Fable."

007 First Light Is Bringing Back One of James Bond's Best Traditions

17 April 2026 at 01:45

Hitman developer IO Interactive is aiming to put its own spin on James Bond in 007 First Light, but one longstanding tradition is making its way into this adventure: a Bond song. From Shirley Bassey to Chris Cornell, Bond movies have always attracted some of the best performers of their era, and for 007 First Light, IO Interactive recruited award-winning performer Lana Del Rey to perform and create the title track, which shares the same name as the game. You can listen for yourself in the video embedded below.

And overall? It's a pretty great song! Del Rey's First Light track sounds like it'd fit right in with a modern-day Bond movie, and that's no surprise, as composer David Arnold also worked on the track. Arnold was the composer for five consecutive James Bond movies, starting with Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997 and continuing through to 2008's Quantum of Solace.

"The music of James Bond has always been a huge part of its identity," Arnold said in a press statement. "A title song has to tell us about the world we are about to enter into. It has to intrigue, excite, and beckon us in. This song joins a long line of genre-defining songs, each one creating a benchmark of style that adds to the magnificent heritage that is The Bond Song. That's why I was so excited to work with Lana, an artist who brought elegance, atmosphere, and her totally unique character to this piece, which I hope will open the world of Bond to a whole new audience."

Metro 2039 Will Feature A New Protagonist, Out This Winter

17 April 2026 at 01:15

It has been more than seven years since the launch of Metro Exodus, but 4A Games has finally returned with an all-new mainline entry: Metro 2039. Once again developed in partnership with author Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2039 promises to be even darker than its predecessors, if such a thing is possible, and it's coming this winter.

As with the majority of previous Metro games, Metro 2039 will take place in the Moscow metro system, above which there has been massive nuclear devastation. It has become something of a graveyard for its inhabitants, who have little option but to survive underground.

"It appears that the devastation we brought upon ourselves was complete: Heaven, hell, and purgatory were atomized as well," we hear in a trailer. "So, when a soul leaves the body, it has nowhere to go, and must remain here, in the metro."

Microsoft Considering These Major Changes To Game Pass After CEO Said It's Too Expensive- Report

17 April 2026 at 01:11

Microsoft Gaming's new CEO, Asha Sharma, has said Xbox Game Pass is "too expensive" for players, but what is she going to do about that? According to The Verge, Microsoft is kicking around a few ideas for how to shake up the Xbox Game Pass service, including by introducing a new tier that only includes first-party Xbox games made by studios that Microsoft owns.

The Verge also published another line from Sharma's memo to staff recently. It said Game Pass is "central to gaming value on Xbox," but also that it's become clear that "the current model isn't the final one." The memo added, "Player behavior, content economics, and markets vary too much for a single approach to work everywhere." The other parts of the memo, which were published previously, included a mention from Sharma that she wanted to evolve Game Pass to become a "more flexible system."

Beyond a new Game Pass tier for first-party games, The Verge said Microsoft is also considering more bundling of third-party services. Currently, Game Pass Ultimate also includes subscriptions to Fortnite Crew, Ubisoft+ Classics, and EA Play. There's no word on what other third-party services could be added to Game Pass, but Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said in March that he and Sharma had "kicked around ideas" in regards to bundling.

Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Finally Lets You Build Your Own Batcave

17 April 2026 at 01:04

No Batman game would feel complete without a trip to the Batcave, and that's a tradition that many Caped Crusader games have upheld over the decades. In Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, players will get to frequently visit Batman's high-tech hideout, but with a twist, growing and expanding it over time.

Developer TT Games has revealed how players will build their very own crime-fighting headquarters, as the Batcave starts as nothing more than a glorified hole situated underneath Wayne Manor. In a nod to Batman Begins, Bruce Wayne will discover his future lair at a young age and will once again return to it, expanding and transforming the location into his primary base of operations.

Meta Quest 3 VR Headset Prices Are Increasing, Making Reality More Expensive To Escape

17 April 2026 at 00:01

Price hikes have been felt across the entire tech industry lately, and the Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset is the next piece of premium hardware that's about to get more expensive. Meta has announced that its Quest 3 headset will increase from $500 to $600 for the 512GB model, while anyone looking to grab the entry-level Quest 3S headset can expect to pay an extra $50 for the 128GB and 256GB models when the new prices kick in on April 19.

Meta says that the current global memory shortage has led to price increases, but accessories will remain at their current prices. "We're making this change because the cost of building high-performance VR hardware has risen significantly," Meta said in a statement. "The global surge in the price of critical components--specifically memory chips--is impacting almost every category of consumer electronics, including VR. To keep delivering the quality of hardware, software, and support you expect from the Quest platform, we need to adjust our pricing."

If you're looking to grab a Quest 3 or 3S headset before it becomes more expensive, you can check our list below for the models currently on sale.

GTA Online Adds A Trippy 4/20 Mode That Makes You Hallucinate And Fight Clowns

16 April 2026 at 23:48

Grand Theft Auto Online is celebrating the stoner holiday of 4/20 coming up soon, and the centerpiece of the update is a new mode called Stoner Survival.

Players can look for the "Survival Blip" on the map, and then head to the Senora Desert Trailer Park to kick off the mode, which is available right now. After taking a hit of a jazz cigarette, players will begin to hallucinate as they face waves of aliens, life-sized action figures, wrench-wielding clowns, and big chickens. The mode opens at 4:20 PM each day, and pays out quadruple GTA$ and RP through April 22.

Players who survive five waves will get the Sasquatch outfit and an allotment of $420,000 worth of GTA$. You can check out a teaser for the mode in the video below. The Stoner Survival mode reminds us of the Grass Roots mission from GTA 5 where players get high and fight their hallucinations.

Fortnite: Save The World Is Finally Free-To-Play, Offers A Free Skin For Good Measure

16 April 2026 at 23:47

The version of Fortnite that started it all is in the spotlight for the first time in many years, as Epic Games has made the original Save the World mode free for all Fortnite players for the first time. For those who aren't familiar with it, Save the World is a co-op survival game in which players must complete objectives on various open-world maps while using builds and traps to defend from a variety of monsters. Now that Save the World is free, it will appear as one of Fortnite's main modes in the Discovery section of the lobby for all players.

Epic is celebrating making Save the World free by offering crossover quests with Battle Royale that will award XP and cosmetics, including a free skin based that is usable in all of Fortnite. Completing three quests for the Jess NPC on the Battle Royale island will unlock the ability to buy the Super Shredder weapon from her once per match, completing 12 quests unlocks the Super Shredder schematic for Save the World, and earning 350,000 XP in Save the World will award the Jess skin.

Before the removal of the price tag, Fortnite: Save the World was a mode largely forgotten by most players, though it's had a consistent set of players who have used it to level through each battle pass. Back in the day, though, Save the World was Fortnite, because it was the game's only mode when it originally launched with a $40 price tag. Ironically, though, Fortnite only became a juggernaut because Save the World was a huge bomb. After Fortnite launched to disappointing sales numbers in July 2017, Epic quickly whipped up a building-based battle royale mode in Fortnite as a quick pivot, and that in turn blew up quickly and spawned the aspiring metaverse that we know so well today.

Crimson Desert’s Endgame Is Just Cosplay Now

16 April 2026 at 23:37

While players are loving Crimson Desert, the community is in a fashion chokehold. Not unlike Fashion Souls of the souls-like fandom, fans have established a sort of Crimson Fashion (or Fashion Desert) group, where they're finding the best drip around Pywel to cosplay as some of their favorite characters from other franchises.

If you check out the game's subreddit, you'll find tons of players dressing the three playable characters--Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka--in all sorts of outfits. Now, after millions of folks have begun their quest to revive the Greymanes and thousands of others have reached the endgame, the community is looking to outfit their characters in clothes that resemble other characters.

Someone turned Kliff into Captain America and called him, wait for it, Captain Hernand. (Get it? The main city you start in is Hernand, and it's Captain America.) Another person dressed Damiane up as Link, as if it were called The Legend of Damiane: Crimson Desert. Two players made Dr. Doom cosplay, while two others brought Arthur Morgan over from Red Dead Redemption 2. Someone else dressed up as Persona 5's Aketchi, and another person donned Geralt of Rivia's typical garb.

How To Increase Inventory Space In Windrose

16 April 2026 at 23:03

Like most other survival games on the market, Windrose starts out with your character having nothing to their name. In order to survive on your new deserted island, you need to scavenge resources around the beach and jungle to make a base and essential tools, gear, and items. While you won't have any issues with this for the first hour or so, you'll quickly run into an inventory space problem in Windrose.

The default inventory in Windrose is extremely limited, only giving you 16 slots of space (not including your character action panel). So, this begs the question: How do you increase your inventory space in Windrose?

How to get more inventory slots in Windrose

Your inventory space in Windrose is mostly tied to what "Accessories" you have equipped on your character. If you open the inventory screen, you can see the Accessories tab in the middle of the screen, right below your armor items.
