Metro 2039 Will Feature A New Protagonist, Out This Winter

17 April 2026 at 01:15

It has been more than seven years since the launch of Metro Exodus, but 4A Games has finally returned with an all-new mainline entry: Metro 2039. Once again developed in partnership with author Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro 2039 promises to be even darker than its predecessors, if such a thing is possible, and it's coming this winter.

As with the majority of previous Metro games, Metro 2039 will take place in the Moscow metro system, above which there has been massive nuclear devastation. It has become something of a graveyard for its inhabitants, who have little option but to survive underground.

"It appears that the devastation we brought upon ourselves was complete: Heaven, hell, and purgatory were atomized as well," we hear in a trailer. "So, when a soul leaves the body, it has nowhere to go, and must remain here, in the metro."

Metro 2039 Will Be "Darker Than Anything You've Seen Before," Book Author Says

15 April 2026 at 04:02

The Metro game series has never shied away from dark, disturbing subject matter, with warring factions fighting for control over what's left of a devastated post-nuclear-apocalypse Moscow. Despite this, series author Dmitry Glukhovsky says Metro 2039 is shaping up to be even darker.

Writing on Twitter (via PC Gamer), Glukhovsky made a very bold statement: "This Metro game will be darker than anything you've seen before."

This is a series that has seen the absolute plight of humanity, as well as the mysterious Dark Ones, all while enormous, mutated animal creatures reign supreme above the metro station. It's a series where you're often given two choices, both of which are dark and disturbing, and must determine which one is the least horrible. Death is just around the corner for nearly any character, and there is very slim hope for the future. If Glukhovsky is this confident about 2039, then it might be best to alternate with something a little more cheerful when it eventually releases.

Backyard Baseball Gets Free Demo, And Of Course It Has Pablo Sanchez

10 April 2026 at 04:36

Mega Cat Studios and Playground Productions are releasing the first all-new Backyard Baseball game in years later this summer, but if you can't wait to try out the game's new features, there's a free demo available right now. And yes, you can play as the GOAT, Pablo Sanchez, along with some other classic Backyard Kids.

Though the full game will be available on consoles as well, the Backyard Baseball demo is currently limited to PC and Mac. It includes a new game mode called Backyard Derby, with the demo limiting your choice of players to Kiesha Phillips, Kenny Kawaguchi, and Pablo Sanchez. You'll be looking to hit as many home runs as possible in a limited time, so we have our money on Sanchez. There's a leaderboard, as well, so you can see how you stack up against other players online prior to the official launch date.

Backyard Baseball also introduces a night mode, complete with fireworks, and you'll likely recognize the field from the original games--just with a modern coat of paint. There will be 11 stadiums in the final game, each remastered from their classic versions.

MLB The Show 26 Celebrates The Best Defensive Performance In Baseball History

7 April 2026 at 03:22

On April 4, the Los Angeles Angels played the Seattle Mariners in an early-season matchup that ended with an underwhelming 1-0 score. If you look at the batting and hitting stats, there wasn't anything particularly notable about the game, but Angels right fielder Jo Adell managed to do something that had never been done in the more than 150 years of professional baseball: He robbed three home runs in one game. Naturally, MLB The Show 26 is paying tribute to Adell's achievement with a Supercharged player card.

The Show of Jo Adell!!
Not 1, not 2, but 3 HR robberies!!! πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡
Jo getsπŸ”‹#SuperchargedπŸ”‹in MLB The Show 26 for the next 3⃣ days!#MLBTheShowSC | #RepTheHalo https://t.co/CSDVqG0wTL pic.twitter.com/kAW8MsIiMM

β€” MLB The Show (@MLBTheShow) April 6, 2026

If you happen to have a Jo Adell card in your Diamond Dynasty lineup, his overall rating has been temporarily improved from 80 to 92. His hitting attributes have been improved substantially, which is a nice bonus, but his fielding is where the biggest boosts are. The "ability" category within the fielding attribute has gone up from 50 to 90, while his speed has also gotten a nice boost. You have roughly three days to make use of his boosted stats before they go back to their normal level.

After spending time in center field and struggling, his shift to right field is clearly working out, as evidenced by the game this weekend. After robbing two homers by timing his jumps at the wall--not easy, mind you--Adell's third home-run robbery of the night came on a ridiculous dive into the stands near the foul pole. You can see all three catches for yourself below.

Reviews for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie have been divisive. Some have called the film "tortuous," though gaming-centric outlets have appreciated it more. One particular four-year-old was very high on the movie, praising its Super Mario Odyssey elements and the inclusion of Bowser Jr.
