Dead Space Creator Talks GTA 6's Effect On Other Games: "You Don't Wanna Be Near It"

As Grand Theft Auto 6's November 19 launch date looms in the distance, the games industry is bending over backwards to get out of its way. Per Dead Space creator and Callisto Protocol director Glen Schofield, Rockstar's plans to delay the game (which was pushed back from a May 2026 release date last year) have upended the launch plans of many other studios, from those working on indie games to other AAA titles.

"With all this money that came in [during the pandemic], you now have too many AAA games [coming out] at Christmas, as opposed to a few plus something from Nintendo," Schofield said in a recent interview with gamesindustry.biz. "There are no new people in the market, so if there are too many games out at once, they're gonna fail. And so everyone tries to get out of the blast radius of any big game."

Schofield definitely has a point, although the delay has certainly worked in the favor of other games, with Lego Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight production director Jonathan Smith saying the team at TT Games is "really glad to have some space" to show off the game without being overshadowed by a juggernaut like GTA 6. But for studios currently working on a project slated for an end-of-year release, this is a nightmare. Even Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said he can't imagine any adult choosing not to play GTA 6.

Crimson Desert's AI Scandal Should Bother You More

Crimson Desert is, in many ways, exactly the type of game I've been waiting for.

It's got the enormous, sprawling setting of, say, an Assassin's Creed title, minus the laundry list of quests that often cause me to burn out on Ubisoft's massive open-world games. It encourages freedom and experimentation much in the same way as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but with a more consistent narrative drip-feed that keeps me coming back for more. Sure, it starts off a bit slow, but so far, it's largely been a fun ride. In fact, Crimson Desert is probably the best game I've played so far in 2026. Or it would be, if it weren't for the little twinge of doubt in the back of my mind that tingles every time I load up the game and leaves me wondering, "Is this AI?"

A large part of the discourse surrounding Crimson Desert has been a fairly black-and-white discussion about whether the game is "good." If all gaming discourse took place in a vacuum, I'd say it's a pretty solid 7/10 RPG. But we don't live in a vacuum. We live in a world where studios are increasingly outsourcing their work to generative AI and refusing to disclose it. Developer Pearl Abyss did just that with Crimson Desert, releasing the game on March 19, despite the fact that it was unpolished and featured a frustrating storage system, a bizarre control setup, and blurry graphics on PlayStation 5. Oh, and a load of AI-generated "placeholder" art that was "unintentionally" left in the game.

Humble's Massive Pathfinder 2E Bundle Includes A Physical Book

Dungeons & Dragons may be the most popular tabletop RPG, but there's a vast world of other excellent TTRPGs out there, and one of the best is Pathfinder. Not only is it one of the easiest for D&D fans to transition to (since it's based on older editions of D&D), it's also packed with official and community-made content to add to your table. If you're looking to check out Paizo's fantasy RPG, Humble's new Pathfinder 2E: Bundle At The Center of The World deal is the perfect way to dive in. The bundle includes up to a whopping 41 Pathfinder 2E items--including a physical hardcover copy of the Pathfinder NPC Core book--for just $45. That's a huge savings compared to the bundle's $658 value. A portion of the proceeds from each sale is donated to ComicBooks for Kids, a nonprofit that provides comic books to young cancer patients and children's hospitals.

As mentioned above, the maquee item is the Pathfinder NPC Core, a book full of pre-made NPCs that Game Masters can easily drop into their campaigns. The $45 tier includes both physical and digital PDF editions of the book. The bundle also includes loads of other tools, such as battle maps, Society Scenarios, and beginner sets for GMs and players alike. Like other Humble Bundles, cheaper bundle tiers are available, including a 40-item bundle (which does not include the hardcover copy of NPC Core) for $30, a 27-item bundle for $15, and a 9-item bundle for $5. That said, the full $45 bundle is by far the best value; you can check out the full contents listed below.

The Humble Pathfinder 2E: Bundle At The Center of The World book bundle will be available until April 30. All digital items are delivered as official keys for eBup, PDF, or JPEG downloads. Keys must be redeemed on Paizo's website before they expire on November 30, 2026. The physical NPC Core book will be mailed to you.

Samson's Launch Woes Deemed "Unacceptable," Incoming Patch Aims To Beat Down Bugs

Samson: A Tyndalston Story--the debut title from Just Cause developer Christofer Sundberg's new studio Liquid Swords--is finally here. But the gritty crime adventure's launch has been a bit rocky, mainly due to bugs that Liquid Swords is already working to address via a patch that's set to release on Friday.

"Early impressions [of Samson] are mixed and many of you are experiencing game-breaking bugs and performance issues," Sundberg himself shared in a post announcing the upcoming update. "That's unacceptable, and we are listening to everyone's feedback and are hard at work to deliver the game we spent years of our lives developing. Launching a game is a ton of work and I'm proud of the effort our team has put into seeing Samson from its initial concept through release."

No Caption Provided

The update, which is set to go live on Friday, April 10, is mainly focused on fixing performance issues, game crashes, and bugs that prevent progression. The patch will also add the ability for players to utilize up to eight save files.

Starfield Lands On PS5 Via Update That Adds Fallout Bobbleheads And Finally Lets You Fly Your Ship

Starfield's long-awaited arrival on PlayStation 5 is finally here, and it's brought with it a new "Free Lanes" game update (on all platforms) in addition to the new Terran Armada DLC, and we've got all the details on Starfield's latest DLC and the 1.16.236 patch notes.

In a recent blog post detailing the game's new content, Bethesda described the Free Lanes update as a "game-wide evolution, touching everything from space travel and late game content and progression to gear and ship customization and outpost building," with "countless improvements in between." In addition to the Free Lanes update (which, true to its name, is available free of charge), players can also take the game's new DLC, Terran Armada, for a spin. Terran Armada is--according to Bethesda--"a new story packed with repeatable content and tons to discover."

So what exactly is the Free Lanes update?

Call Of Duty's Dave Chappelle Skin Shows Where Activision Really Stands On Inclusivity

It's almost that time of year again, when every corporate entity temporarily gives its logo a rainbow makeover and publicly reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity. But before we get to Pride Month, we have to get through 4/20, which Call of Duty is celebrating with a pair of skins depicting Thurgood Jenkins, the fictional character from 1998's Half Baked, played by comedian and noted transphobe Dave Chappelle.

"There's something going on at Frankencense & Burr Pharmaceutical, and Thurgood Jenkins is right in the middle of it," reads a recent Activision blog post announcing the upcoming collaboration. "The master of custodial arts takes his chance to have some fun and save a friend, memorialized in this Bundle inspired by the 1998 hit comedy, Half Baked."

No Caption Provided

I'm old enough to remember the days when Chappelle was known for being funny rather than being a bigot. I grew up watching Chappelle's Show, and like many comedy fans, genuinely enjoyed the guy's work until he started making unfunny jokes about the LGBTQ+ community, with a large amount of vitriol aimed at the trans community and female sexual assault victims specifically.

Get 15 PC Games For $15 And Support Charity With This Humble Bundle

Humble has just unveiled one of its best Humble Bundles ever in terms of pure bang-for-buck: The Humble 15 for $15 Bundle is now available on Humble's official website, and as the name suggests, it gives players access to a total of 15 PC games (a $158 value) for just $15. Even better, proceeds from sales of this bundle go to Comic Relief, a UK-based charity that helps connect families living in impoverished communities with healthy food, doctor's visits, and after-school programs.

Unlike most Humble Bundles, the 15 For $15 Game Bundle doesn't feature a pay-what-you-want option or tiered pricing, though players can pay more than $15 to donate additional funds to Comic Relief. Instead, you pay just $15 for the full 15 game collection. The bundle will be available until April 15, and all games in the bundle are delivered as official Steam keys that must be redeemed before they expire on April 17, 2027.

Minecraft Hacks Away A Major Chunk Of The Game With New Playable April Fools' Joke

Like lots of games, Minecraft is celebrating April Fools' Day with a good, old-fashioned joke. But rather than simply making a silly social media post, developer Mojang is fully committed to the bit, and this year's joke comes in the form of a playable game update.

The Herdcraft Update is live now, and gets rid of the inventory system entirely, leaving players' inventory items to follow them around the in-game world like sheep.

"Herdcraft is a completely new (and very permanent) way to play Minecraft," creative communications director and writer Cristina Anderca explained in a blog post announcing the update. "Instead of spending minutes, hours, years on end trying to organize the chaos in your inventory, you get to be present in the world, together with your new friends: all the items and blocks that you own!"

The Sims 4 Mod Marketplace Everyone's Mad About Is Reportedly Exceeding EA's Expectations

The controversial paid mod marketplace recently added to The Sims 4 is apparently exceeding Electronic Arts' expectations, according to a new report from Sims Community. It cited an anonymous "insider" who evidently also leaked accurate details about The Sims 4's Marketplace and Maker Program before it was revealed to the public.

It's not clear exactly what EA's financial goals for The Sims 4 Marketplace are, and the source didn't provide a specific number, but said that the paid mod marketplace "has so far exceeded EA’s expectations," adding, "We don’t know what [those expectations] were, though."

Earlier this month, details about a single-player The Sims title currently called Project X were leaked. It appears that Project X will feature individual neighborhoods that players must pay to unlock. According to Sims Community's source, EA has seen the player response online and might be rethinking things.

Marathon Nerfs Movement Exploit, Even Though It's "Clip-Worthy"

The latest patch for Bungie's new extraction shooter, Marathon, is here--and with it, Bungie is making its stance on movement exploits clear.

Patch 1.0.5.2 includes a fix for a movement exploit that allowed Thief players to cancel her slide animation by pulling out her Grapple Device, while still retaining momentum. (An example of the exploit in action can be seen here.)

In the 1.0.5.2 patch notes, Bungie explained why exploits like these aren't something the studio wants to encourage.

Little Nightmares 3 is a giant nightmare to play

I love weird, atmospheric games with minimal dialogue, fun platforming, and puzzles to solve. ABZΓ› and Sword of the Sea rank among my all-time favorites, and I've always wished for a game that felt similar, but a bit creepier. After years of being told I should try out Little Nightmares, I figured I might as well take the latest entry in the franchise β€” Little Nightmares 3 β€” out for a spin. After all, it has all the right ingredients: a spooky atmosphere, a story you have to piece together, and lots of puzzles and platforming. Even firing up my PlayStation 5 and seeing the game's title screen had me excited β€” the musical score was haunting but beautiful, and I was excited to see what the horror experts at Supermassive Games had in store for me.
