The Zelda Movie Is Pulling From Many Games, Which Is The Right Move

Now-deleted behind-the-scenes photos for The Legend of Zelda movie hint that the live-action adaptation will take influences from multiple Zelda games rather than directly adapting a singular entry, which might be the best-case scenario for the project.

Looking back to the first official set photos from the Zelda movie, the blue tunic donned by Zelda (played by Bo Bragason) greatly resembles the character's outfit in Breath of the Wild. But a photo initially shared on Instagram by the film's director of photography, Gyula Pados, shows a clapperboard with artwork of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in his traditional green tunic, hat and all.

this Legend of Zelda movie clapper featuring Link was posted on Instagram by cinematographer Gyula Pados pic.twitter.com/msdvly13qJ

The image of Ainsworth looks like the adult Link we've known since Ocarina of Time, though fans believe that the costume looks more inspired by Twilight Princess than anything. The tunic has a muted green, similar to the darker and more mature aesthetic of Twilight Princess. Additionally, Link is wearing chainmail underneath, which he sported in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

Splatoon Raiders Isn't Single-Player-Only After All

Nintendo dropped the Splatoon Raiders release date on the Nintendo Today mobile app, revealing a release date of July 23 for the Switch 2 exclusive spin-off. And though it appears to be a single-player-only game, that isn't the case.

Footage shows the game's protagonist, the Mechanic, a customized Inkling or Octoling stranded on the Spirhalite Islands with Splatoon 3's Deep Cut. The trailer also shows off gameplay similar to the PvE Salmon Run from previous titles, along with gear crafting and upgrading mechanics.

The trailer calls it a "single-player-focused" spin-off, but an official press release clarifies that Splatoon Raiders "supports the ability to join with up to three other players online or via local wireless," which hammers home the idea that this is an expanded take on Salmon Run. The official Splatoon X account also confirmed that difficulty "evens out" depending on how many players are involved.

Clair Obscur Star Says What We Were All Thinking With Gustave's Face

Despite Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 voice actor Charlie Cox's experience acting on screen, he has his own idea of how to depict his character Gustave in a film adaptation of the game, and it matches several fancasts.

Speaking to GamesRadar ahead of the BAFTA Games Awards, Cox expressed that he'd love to portray Gustave again in an Expedition 33 movie, but had a funny suggestion on how to approach the character, saying that "they should get Robert Pattinson to play the part, and I should do the voice. Because then they would have pretty much the exact Gustave from the game."

Look at online comments about Gustave (or use your own eyes), and you'll see that the resemblance between the character's face and Pattinson is quite evident. Cox is probably joking about wanting to dub his voice over The Batman star, but he isn't wrong in saying it would be a hilariously accurate depiction of the character.

Long Before Friendslop, Portal 2 Made Co-Op Cool

April 18, 2026 marks the 15-year anniversary of Portal 2's release. Below, we reminisce about its memorable story, novel cooperative two-player mode, and enduring comedy.

There was a time in the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 era when Valve was spoiling us with games, packaging some excellent titles in The Orange Box and bringing us back-to-back Left 4 Dead entries. But the company hit a stride with the 2011 release of Portal 2, which might be its finest accomplishment of that generation.

Following up from 2007's Portal, Valve would still have had a hit if it had only made and released the single-player campaign, but the developers went the extra mile with the addition of a full-fledged co-op campaign--which itself would have been an equally worthy sequel to Portal on its own, and in retrospect, was a harbinger for cooperative and social games trending today.

Please Give My Decades-Old Pokemon Something Fun To Do

When Pokemon Champions was unveiled, my excitement gravitated towards one specific aspect: As cool as an official battle simulator sounded, support for Pokemon Home was the main selling point.

While people might get into Pokemon for the competitive aspect, I'm in it to catch 'em all. Collecting every single 'mon has been a longtime obsession, and I successfully built a "living dex" (a collection consisting of at least one of each Pokemon) over a couple of decades. After years of grinding, trading, egg-hatching, and transferring, I've gotten every one of my monsters starting from my Game Boy Advance through the Switch into the cloud via Pokemon Home.

But after all of that, my 1,000+ Pokemon are just happy-looking static sprites sitting in an app. Pokemon Home feels more like a retirement home. Maybe with Champions, I thought, I'd finally be able to let my pocket monster friends out to stretch their legs and have some fun.

Before You Start Battling In Pokemon Champions, Checking The Battle Data Menu Is A Must

Pokemon Champions is entirely focused on competitive battling, but a hidden menu option might help you gain an edge against opposing trainers.

Within the Battle option in the main menu is Battle Data selection, all the way at the bottom. Select Ranked Battles, and although the menu might look empty at first, changing to the Pokemon tab with the shoulder buttons will show you a list of the most-used Pokemon in competition.

And that's not all the data you can use to your advantage--select an individual Pokemon, and you can see their mostcommonly used moves and held items, along with their most-frequent Pokemon teammates and other useful battle stats.

Pokemon Champions Bug On Switch 2 Demands You Briefly Undock The System

The launch of Pokemon Champions has come with more problems than you can fit in a Poke Ball, but a Switch 2-specific bug affecting the game's resolution might take the cake as the strangest issue.

Prominent Pokemon fan account Centro Leaks (via IGN) pointed out that Pokemon Champions runs at a lower 1080p resolution in TV mode on Switch 2, and the current solution to get proper 4K visuals is to undock the Switch 2 and re-dock it. Joe Merrick, owner of fan site Serebii, corroborated the existence of the glitch in an X post.

Pokemon Champions only has a version for the first Nintendo Switch, but it's one of many Nintendo-published titles with enhanced visuals through a free Switch 2 update. According to Nintendo's website, Champions on Switch 2 is optimized for the console's screen and "high-resolution TVs for improved image quality."

Pokemon Champions Is Giving Fans The Big And Tiny Pokemon They Want To See

Several Pokemon fans are expressing disappointment with Pokemon Champions at launch due to glitches and missing content, but some players think that the game's depiction of Pokemon sizes is a positive.

A Reddit post shared an image of a Steelix and Wyrdeer in battle, claiming that Champions has "accurate Pokemon sizes for the first time" since the release of Let's Go on Switch. In the screenshot, Steelix is notably taller than Wyrdeer, while in other games like Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Scarlet and Violet, the two are scaled to similar heights.

Social media posts from other players pointed out that Alpha Pokemon, which debuted in Legends: Arceus and are both more powerful and significantly larger than normal Pokemon, look appropriately big in Champions, and the game reflects size variations between Pokemon of the same species.

Pokemon Champions Gave Us Trans Gallade And They're Already Taking Her Away

Pokemon Champions accidentally produced a queer icon, with a game tutorial including a Gallade--historically a male-only Pokemon--labeled as female. But it looks like the game's developers are taking this trailblazer away, stating that the gender of some Pokemon seen in tutorials is one of many glitches to be patched.

Players can battle against trans Gallade in a tutorial segment focused on status effects. Gallade evolves from a male Kirlia when exposed to a Dawn Stone; Kirlia can also evolve to Gardevoir when reaching level 30, regardless of gender. A female Gallade should be technically impossible, so several light-hearted social media posts celebrated the unexpected trans representation, intentional or not.

And unintentional it was indeed, with developers releasing a statement in Japanese (translated by Serebii) listing "some genders of Pokemon in the tutorial" alongside other known bugs, such as the Lightning Rod ability not working as it should. The developers state that bugs will be fixed in future updates. Fans on social media are already mourning the loss of trans Gallade.

Pokemon Champions Players Say Content From Trailers Isn't In Game

Multiple Pokemon fans are finding that Pokemon Champions isn't up to snuff for the competitive scene, saying that it lacks several Pokemon and items that were even advertised in pre-release trailers.

Currently, Pokemon Champions only supports 186 Pokemon, only featuring fully evolved forms (with some exceptions like Pikachu). One X post spotted by Kotaku points out that a Mega Evolution for Raichu seen in the game's Pokemon Day trailer isn't present in Champions, and another post highlights items seen in the overview trailer that aren't in the game at launch.

>in the pokemon day trailer from a month ago
>isnt even in the fucking game
what did they mean by this pic.twitter.com/ssdJ3Rn6YE

β€” Lewtwo (@Lewchube) April 8, 2026

To be somewhat fair to The Pokemon Company, most of the game's trailers have disclaimers saying that footage might include Pokemon "unavailable at the time of the Nintendo Switch version's release," implying that other missing Pokemon and Mega Evolution forms like Mega Raichu X could be added at a later time or when the mobile version of the game releases.

Pokemon Champions Bug Has Made Some Players Lose Access To Their Precious Monsters

The newly released Pokemon Champions game lets you use Pokemon from older games through Pokemon Home, though some players shared that a bug has locked their beloved pocket monsters in purgatory after the transfer process.

Competitive Pokemon player Justin Carris said on X that trying to send Pokemon from Home to Champions resulted in error code 9007. After receiving the error, those Pokemon couldn't be transferred to Champions, traded on the Pokemon Home mobile app, or sent back to their original games. Replies to the post indicate that other Champions players are experiencing the same issue.

In short, those Pokemon are still listed on Pokemon Home, but they can't be used or transferred outside of it after the error.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Release Date Seemingly Leaked By Dataminer In Cryptic Math Problem

A noted Halo dataminer appears to have hinted at when Halo: Campaign Evolved will release--you just have to do some math to figure out what this leaker is claiming.

Halo fan account grunt.api shared a couple of math equations (spotted by Insider Gaming) that people seem to believe contain the launch dates of the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake. The equations read:

  • EA: (18 Γ— 7 Γ— (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1
  • OR: (8 Γ— 7 Γ— (MMXX + VI) mod 31) + 1

In case you're unwilling to do the arithmetic yourself, these equations suggest that Campaign Evolved will release in an early-access stage (or "EA" in the equation) on July 23, before an official release ("OR") on July 28. Presumably, the "early access" period would be for those who purchase a special edition of the game.

Gears Of War Actor's Gears 6 Fanfic Involves Marcus Fighting His Zombie Son

Instead of following up Gears 5 with a proper sequel, the franchise's next game is going back in time with Gears of War: E-Day. But that hasn't stopped JD Fenix voice actor Liam McIntyre from sharing his story ideas for a potential Gears of War 6.

Posting on X, McIntyre claimed that "there was a suggestion" that Gears developer The Coalition would make Gears 6, but the studio "wanted to try something new." Even so, McIntyre stated that the forthcoming Gears of War: E-Day "looks great" and he can't wait to play it. When prompted by a reply addressing the ending of Gears 5, McIntyre shared how he would approach the story from there.

Spoilers for Gears 5 follow, if you don't know about the ending over six years after its release. Protagonist Kait Diaz is forced to choose between saving JD or her wingman Del Walker, with the other meeting a brutal demise at the hands of Swarm Queen Reyna. It's unclear which branch is canon to Gears lore or how a sequel would accommodate player choices, but McIntyre's "solve" is making Del's survival canon, the Swarm reviving and possessing JD, and a rogue Marcus Fenix having to face his zombie-fied son.

Canceled Last Of Us Online Game Was "Very Close To Done" And Doing "Really Well Internally," Says Dev

New details about what happened to The Last of Us multiplayer game that never was have emerged, thanks to a former Naughty Dog developer who worked on it.

Speaking to podcaster Lance E. Lee (via Kotaku), developer Vinit Agarwal said that the canceled Last of Us live-service title was almost at "80% completion," adding that the game was "very, very close to done."Β Agarwal, who had worked on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and The Last of Us Part 2, was the game director for this multiplayer game.

According to Agarwal, Sony had invested in the project after an uptick in online gaming in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that The Last of Us online title "made a lot of progress, and the game was doing really, really well internally." Studio head and The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann even called the game Naughty Dog's "most ambitious project" back in January 2023.

Nintendo Wants To Bribe You To Use GameChat On Switch 2

Remember that C button on your Nintendo Switch 2? It's that button that you may have accidentally pressed instead of the Home button right above it. Well, Nintendo really wants you to use it to activate GameChat, and the company will grant you points and icons in return.

Until April 22 at 5:59 PM PT / 8:59 PM ET, you can earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points simply by opening GameChat, which Nintendo promoted as the Switch 2's "defining" feature. You can then use those points to claim up to 13 icons for your Switch profile, each 10 Platinum Points each. That means you'll need a little more than the 100 points you get from activating GameChat if you want every icon--you can earn Platinum Points from completing My Nintendo missions.

While you can look at these icon elements on the Nintendo Switch Online app within your Switch 2, you can't redeem any of them without actually starting up GameChat. We found that simply opening the GameChat menu without even starting a chat will do the trick and allow you to claim these limited-time icons, so you don't even have to fully use the feature.

Call Of Duty's April Fools Joke Brings The Franchise's Smallest Map And A Dead Meme

Call of Duty has featured famously small maps like Shipment before, but Black Ops 7 takes things further for April Fools' Day, adding a hilariously tiny map in a limited-time game mode.

Developer Treyarch shared what looked like the layout of a small map on social media, and you can play on it right now. The game mode called "GRWM" (an acronym for "get ready with me") puts you in a free-for-all match with a max of eight players in what appears to be a walk-in closet or changing room, the most intimate setting for a firefight that Call of Duty has conceived.

Unsurprisingly, with all players together in such close quarters and very little cover, chaos and carnage follow as soon as the match starts. Matches end once a player reaches a score of 67, a not-so-subtle reference to the 6-7 meme that has arguably gone out of fashion.

Fortnite's Wacky April Fools' Update Adds Big Heads, Rideable Llamas, And Finger Guns For 24 Hours

Fortnite never had a serious tone, but the game's battle royale modes will be a lot sillier during a 24-hour April Fools' Day update.

The game's v40.10 patch temporarily adds a suite of madcap modifications to unranked battle royale and Blitz matches, giving every player an enlarged head and the ability to ride teammates' shoulders. Llamas are also rideable, and players can literally turn their fingers into guns. As an added comedic effect, fall damage has been disabled, and landing will produce a cartoony splat sound effect.

All of these are also in effect in Unranked Reload, except for the big heads.
